Biography
Whitefish Bay born and introduced to the sport with the Barbarians as a junior in High School, transfer to UW-Madison from MSU (where I didn't play), immediately folded into the rugby community which became my fraternity. Donkey was my first captain which gave way to Skeezy during a period of time the team was decidedly more social. The team improved greatly and our numbers swelled. Fortunate to be selected as captain going into a year our team made it to DII National Championship game through an unlikely 16-seed Cinderella story. Graduation took me to the Milwaukee Westside Harlequins where Jeff "George" Hoffman welcomed me as a teammate and helped me get my start in commercial real estate at his Firm in Pewaukee. My then-girlfriend's job took us to NYC where the NYAC welcomed me to open practices, going on to a runner up National Championship run in 2013 and winning the National Championship in 2015. Work took me to Philadelphia in 2017 where I joined Schuylkill River and continued to play for a couple years until nagging and new injuries caused me to hang my boots up in 2021.
Please share a fun fact about you or your favorite rugby memory.
Fabio Raimondi got cut in a rainy wet game against Kent State during the National Championship run, and he wanted help getting the blood out of his eyes, he buried his face in my chest and left a shroud-of-turinesque bloody faceprint on the front of our white game jersey. He was fine, wrapped his head, and we won.
Is there a specific achievement or contribution you're especially proud of from your time on the team?
Advancement from DII to D1 through our National Championship performance
What have you been up to since graduating, or how did rugby impact your post-college life?
helped me get jobs in Milwaukee and New York, as well as make lifelong friends in every city I've moved to.
Who were your most influential coaches or teammates, and why?
Skip. Nuff Said; Rossco- how and why did he find us? Fate...
What advice would you give to current or future rugby players at UW-Madison?
You get more out of it than you could believe and your return is proportionate with what you put in.
